FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Ollantaytambo

We have now arrived to the town of Ollantaytambo. It is great! This really is how the Incas lived. We are 2,792 meters above sea level and is located on the Inca road 50 kilometers from Machu Picchu. Ollantaytambo is a massive citadel. Which served as both a temple and a fortress.

People still live in old Inca houses and you can see terraces and store houses carved out of the mountains oposite.

Was amazing to walk around. Go up the narrow steep steps and marvel at the town below. You are not supposed to touch the walls as will wear them.

We then went onto see another Inca town of Chinchero. Was interesting but not as good as Ollantaytambo. There was a local man there who I asked if I could take a photo of.

Then it was back to Cusco to get an early night before our Lares trek that starts tomorrow.
